Health, Getting Hurt, Healing, Death and Rebirth.
Taking Damage
In this section we will, briefly, go over the topics of staying alive in our game. This is semi important so pay attention!Health Points
Standard humans have 10 HP (or Health Points). When they take "Harm" damage- that number goes down based on the harm damage they took. Thus, a +2 Harm does 2 HP damage and the resulting total is 8 Harm.
At 6 HP you are pretty hurt.
At 2 HP your critically Injured and unless you get medical attention, your not going to make it...
At 0 HP your knocked unconscious. If this HP was taken from energy drain (a non-physical attack, your just night night and not bleeding out.) If you were hit down to 0 with an open or serious wound, you will die unless you recieve medical (or magical) healing.
**Luck can be used to test down damage taking situations. Please see the thread about dice rolls for information on lucks.**
Taking Damage
One of the greatest things about this system, besides Luck, is the way characters take damage. Damage, in it's many epic awesomeness is taken off what YOU DO.Healing
Yup.
YOUR actions not only say how much hurt YOU do, but in a way, how much damage is returned to your character!
Monsters have certain special moves and attacks, as well as health predetermined by the staff. When you roll and get close to a monster- for example, protect someone, kick some ass, using magic to do an effect, etc, the monster will get a potential chance to return and attack based on your roll. Rolls of 12-10 will result in no damage. Rolls of 7-9 will return with partial or some damage and a miss of 6 and below will return with the max damage that youma can pull out.
After you've posted, someone from the staff running the combat will post the monster's reaction as well as how much harm you take from the monster's "reaction" to your attack. Sometimes, Monsters DO attack on their own, but only usually as a first action or surprise action.
A 0-harm wound goes away right after you get it. It can cause a momentary problem, but after that it is purely cosmetic.Death and Rebirth
Moderate Wounds (1-3 Harm) will improve when your character has a chance to rest up (e.g. a decent night's sleep), or get some medical attention. This rest/treatment will reduce an injury by 1-harm. (Some magic has healing as well)
Serious wounds (4+ Harm) require treatment. They are normally unstable, meaning they will worsen if untreated. Your storyteller will tell you to mark off another point of harm. Left too long, serious wounds will Kill You. If a move tells you that the injury is now stable, you can erase the "unstable" in your posts. If you take more harm and are still at 4-harm or more, then your injuries become unstable again.
What counts as treatment depends on the wound, but it will usually be one of the following:
- A character's healing special move.
-Time in an infirmary in someone's home
- A visit to a doctor or emergency room
- A magic spell
Healing moves will mention how many harm they heal.
So you Died. Kicked the bucket. Pushing up Daisies. The game's over....
or is it? Is the universe *really* done with your character?
If you died as a result of a story line, major battle at the end, etc, then you can still communicate to your fellow living senshi (or fellow knights) in their time of need 'and' lend your power. Your still dead, but you can still assist... unless of course, otherwise unable.. (Beryl (Killed them) vs Galaxia (Stole their star seeds/ability to tap planetary energy).
There's a good chance that should good win, you'll be getting a helpful reincarnation from Sailor Moon/ Endymion.
ON THE OTHER HAND....
Should you have died in some other fashion, or as a result of bad juju, and no one can resurrect you.... Then you have two options....
- Create a new character and start over with exp (talk to your ST.)
- Wait and play a minor character--- maybe you know you'll be coming back soon?
- Try to story line out of the Underworld.... it's possible.... if your lucky.
