Crystal Families and other Organizational Groups
Crystal Families are the Nobility of the Crystal Cities
One option you have at creation is to be a part of the Crystal Families storylines. This is a purely optional thing. Crystal families are the nobility of the different crystal cities. Originally comprised of the families of the Royal families who lived in the palace, they were- and are- considered to be almost royalty themselves. Elders in the family were privy to secrets that, to this day, are held only by the Crystal Families themselves.
Each of the seven cities had one specific family that had ties to the royal palace. While they have grown larger and some of the second and third children (or cousins) have branched out to other cities (or in some cases, have a second “home base” in them for weather purposes), they mostly stay in their city where they have the most power. For Crystal Angeles, this family is Emerald. Unlike other cities, which have various degrees of government (Delphi is ruled by a single woman who calls herself Luna and the High Priestess of their order)- Crystal Angeles is ruled from a council of the Seven families, where the Emerald Heir has a voice, but it’s not often listened to.
(Note: The Emerald Family at one point was down to a small child, and the council of families came together to help keep the government in place…. ---- the Emerald Heir is “open” for anyone to claim it… There are a few “cousins” and other “more nebulous” members, but there’s only one clear Emerald Heir and no head of the family… and either you need to be Jupiter or Nephrite OR not be a Senshi/King to claim this.)
The Crystal families are family. Cousins, -in-laws, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles… And like all families they are tied together in both bloodlines and in honor. Each family has a head of the family (See the exception about Emerald) and they are all, by and large, expected to follow the head of the family’s orders or be cut off from the bonuses listed for their family. And anyone is welcome to play anyone in any family.
*Exception being the Single Emerald heir…see note above. For storyline purposes! You can be a Ruby crystal family member, but be Sailor Uranus instead. That’s ok. Just not for Emerald.*
How do I become a Crystal Family Member?
Write it on your character sheet and make sure to include details about your life, and your relationship with your family. Are you on good terms? Bad terms? Black sheep or beloved child of Grandma/Grandpa?
You also agree to have some kind of relationship with the family. The Head of the family is usually the most direct descendent from the Royal Family. You may “get” brothers/sisters as other players create characters who are also descendants, or cousins….etc. That’s okay its part of the storyline- if you know you are a crystal family that already has members- it’s not that bad of an idea to send over a PM and work out family details.
This is, by and large, purely for fun and something ‘extra’. You do not have to be a part of a crystal family so if it seems too difficult or stupid, just don’t do it. Leave that nonsense to those who live with complications.
Enough. I’m sold. Where can I find details about the families?
You can find detailed information on all the families on the culture pages for the planets in character creation. Each family, after all, is designed to mimic the cultures of the original planets. (Arguably, crystal family members are people who were reincarnated from the moon kingdom and other planets when the Silver Millennium popped out of existence… but that’s another complication isn’t it?? YAY!!) Really though, aside from some little notes and suggestions, how and why the families branch out are based on the players who play in them!
In brief:
Emerald Family: Based out of Crystal Angeles. Head of the family is __Open____. Though ___Open_______ has yet to take up their role as the head of the family, they are the last direct descendant of the Kino line. There are a few cousins, both in the city and abroad who are also around, but the Emerald family is one of the smaller of the crystal families. You can find out more about the Emerald Family Here.
Ruby Family: Based out of Crystal Delphi. Head of the family is Luna Hino, a spry old lady who everyone swears is on her death bed- even though she’s the first at meetings and the last to leave. She rules all of Crystal Delphi with an iron fist and an unwavering dedication to both her religion (she is a Shinto Priestess) and her family. She is the guardian of the flame of Apollo, located in the families treasured Shrine of Apollo in Delphi. Her youngest daughter is the Oracle who’s visions give hope to the return of the mythical soldiers (Senshi) who will be reborn again. Local representative J. Hiko, is the current leader of the family’s small branch in Crystal Angeles. He is the grandson of Luna, by way of her second daughter. You can find out more about the Ruby Family Here.
Sapphire Family: Based out of Crystal Paris. Head of the family is Doctor Melvin Mercury, an old man and considered one of the wisest doctors in the world. He has a gift of healing with his hands where can do major magical healing on grievous wounds. His children have all passed away, but he has plenty of grandchildren and great grandchildren in multiple hospitals all around the world. They also are some of the premiere scientific minds, combined with a lust for archaeology, their family has been one of the leading forces in scientific rediscovery and adaption. Diamond Family: Based out of Crystal Cairo and lead by a woman simply known as Diamond. She is a younger woman, who some say has been seen in two places at once, which of course adds to her allure. Some of the eldest diamond family members were found dead of a mysterious plague that swept through their city, leaving her in charge. The Diamond family, for many years, has spent more time in Crystal Angeles, with its far more pleasant weather and deeper history and love in film and Media. The Diamond herself remains in Cairo, her brother and his family live in Crystal Angeles. Local representative is ____Open____, brother to Diamond. Pearl Family: Based out of Crystal Tokyo. The Pearl family are a quiet, if productive bunch and are led by twin sisters who keep their faces, names and business right out of the papers. Of all the families, the Pearl family is perhaps the most secretive and independent with branch offices in every city monitoring food and money supplies so that no one city has a monopoly on money or food. The head branch manager is one of the only people who communicates to the sisters. The local spokesperson in Crystal Angeles is a younger member of the board. __Open for branch manager and younger member of the board___ You can find out more about the Pearl Family Here.
Citrine Family: Based out of Crystal Rio. The Citrine family are the leaders of industry and transportation. They control most of the boats, and shipping around the world. The head of their family is Mia Espinoza. The local branch ___open___ controls the Angeles Docks and most of the trade between Crystal Tokyo, Crystal Rio and Crystal Canada. Onyx Family: Based out of Crystal Canada. Lead by Tomoe Li, the family is one of the premier places for private military and police forces. Specifically specialized bodyguards for the crème-de-la-crème and other crystal families. The Li family is known the world over for their bodyguards and specialty training that they conduct in Crystal Canada. Their training in the martial arts is considered the best any would be military personal can get. They are also the only crystal family known to adopt outside of their bloodlines anyone of promising military minds, both male and female. The Local leader of the Onyx family is also the local General of the Crystal Angeles The Local leader of the Onyx family is also the local General of the Crystal Angeles, his name is Ioz Onyx. TheThe Revolution, a small but growing organization who want to bring science away from the magic and bring about a new, scientific revolution to free themselves from the oppression of the crystal families and the magic of the crystal cities. However, the growing threat of Youma attacks outside the cities proper have caused this movement to shrink in recent months.
